Fibromyalgia Treatment
Fibromyalgia is a syndrome, in which the patient suffers from many problems like pain in the ligaments and muscles, sleeplessness, headache, tiredness and other physical and mental problems which develop due to the consistent pain in the body. Though the cause for this disease has not been found it is not as dangerous as other fatal diseases as it odes not cause any harm to the body's internal organs.
It cannot be considered fatal as it does not develop into any serious ailment. But that does not mean that it should be taken lightly. The doctor has to be consulted and proper treatment should be given to relieve the patient from the pain and other ailments that develop due to the pain.
Treatment of Fibromyalgia
You might have heard that there is no effective treatment for fibromyalgia as the cause is still unknown. But that does not mean that a person has to suffer from pain and fatigue and forego the desire to lead a normal life.
As the pain causes sleep disorders the doctor first gives sedative and anti depressant drugs so that the patient can sleep peacefully at night and feel fresh after getting up in the morning. To ease the muscular pain analgesic medicine is given which gives relief from the spasm in the muscles. Sometimes the patient is advised to take medicine before bedtime which relaxes the muscles and helps in overcoming sleep disorders.
Patients should be given both internal and external treatment. How is that possible? It is possible if an all round treatment is provided. The first change should be brought in the eating habits. The patient should be asked to take a balanced and nutritive diet which will provide the body with all the nutrients and help in regaining the lost energy to drive away the fatigue.
The patient should do some light exercises which will improve the blood circulation in the body and relieve the tension from the muscles. The past history of any ailment and the medication been given thereof should also be considered and if required stopped as fibromyalgia can be caused due to allergic reaction.
Nowadays other treatment procedures have also been developed like acupuncture, hypnosis, herbal treatment, massage therapies, aerobic exercises, stopping the intake of coffee and tea and avoiding red meat and processed food which is not easily digestible.
The patient is advised to take more vegetables and fruits so that the body gets all the nutrients. The roughage in the fruits and vegetables helps to cure the bowel disorder and provides relief from constipation.
