Fibromyalgia Pain Relief

Some sufferers of chronic pain syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome are not always offered fibromyalgia pain relief in the early stages. Once there has been chronic pain for three months or more and doctors have given a clinical diagnosis then treatments that are centered on fibromyalgia pain relief are prescribed. Patients can be prescribed different types of pain relief, depending on the extent of debilitation they are experiencing.

Evidence along with observations of fibromyalgia subjects tends to suggest that hydrotherapy and water aerobics can help with the pain and stiffness that are characteristic of the condition. Although fibromyalgia is associated with arthritis it should not be confused with rheumatoid arthritis, which also produces chronic fatigue and pain in sufferers. However, people suffering from either condition are generally offered very similar methods of pain relief - including Tramadol and amitriptylene. There is also a rising trend for patients who have fibromyalgia to turn to natural and homeopathic remedies in an attempt to cut back on the pain associated with their condition. Gabapentin may be prescribed by some doctors as a method of fibromyalgia relief but it has not been proven to be an effective method in a large number of cases.

Some doctors will prescribe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but not all of these are intended for fibromyalgia pain relief - they help with swelling and stiffness but are not the most efficient way of effecting pain relief in sufferers of fibromyalgia. However, people who have either rheumatoid arthritis or some immune deficiency disease such as lupus may also be more inclined to suffer from fibromyalgia as well.

In spite of pain and muscle weakness medical professionals also prescribe some form of light exercise to people suffering from fibromyalgia. The findings from one study tend to suggest that gentle exercise such as walking, aerobics, and swimming is effective in strengthening the muscles and in reducing the chronic pain and sensitivity that normally characterizes the disease.

Another debilitating effect of fibromyalgia is chronic fatigue system and sufferers may be prescribed a small dose of an anti-depressant called amitriptylene, which has been proven to be helpful in alleviating neurological pain. In some controlled conditions cannabis has been used as a form of fibromyalgia pain relief although this is not widespread practice. In addition to this dopamine agonists and rohipnirole have both been proven to be helpful for some people's fibromyalgia pain relief.
